A lithophane is a photograph printed as thickness rather than ink. Where the picture is dark the wall is printed thick, where it is light it is printed thin — so unlit it reads as a pale panel, and with a light behind it the photograph appears, held in the material itself. Nothing is printed on the surface, so there is nothing to fade. Height 12 cm, width 10 cm, with a mains LED lamp. Five photographs take the place of the walls, so the lamp is not one picture in a frame but a small room of them — five from a single day, or five from five years.
